Deer Park is a hamlet in the Town of Babylon in Western Suffolk County. Bordered by North Babylon, Brentwood/Baywood, Wyandanch/Wheatley Heights and Dix Hills, it is the most north eastern community in the township. The community occupies 6.2 square miles of Long Island with 9,246 households.
- Residents are primarily served by Deer Park School District with two smaller areas that attend Half Hollow Hills School District and Wyandanch School District. There are two public elementary schools (Pre-K – 2) one intermediate school (3-5), one middle school (6-8) and one high school (9-12). Deer Park is also home to private schools, several pre-schools and privately held day care facilities.
Like much of the area, Deer Park is primarily made up of single family residences – capes, ranches, hi-ranches, colonials and split level homes. Gas and oil heat are used for home heating.
In December 2018, the median home sale price (including the sale of condos) was $376,000, an increase of 7.7% increase over the prior year.
The community is easily accessible from the major highways and has access to both Wyandanch train station, Deer Park Train station (Baywood) or Babylon Train Station. Both Wyandanch and Deer Park train stations are on the Ronkonkoma line. There are strip malls scattered throughout Deer Park but Tanger Outlets serve as the main retail area attracting patrons from both Nassau and Suffolk counties.
