Wheatley Heights Demographics

Wheatley Heights is an almost completely residential area with a medium sized strip mall in the center of the community. It continues to share the same zip code with Wyandanch and is also serviced by the Wyandanch Fire Dept.  Wheatley Heights is bordered by Wyandanch, Melville, Dix Hills and Deer Park.  There are several summer day camps in the area, an Adventure Park which provides zip lining fun for ages 7 and up, and a new Soccer Sports Complex.  With the lack of retail outlets, Wheatley Heights residents do most of their shopping in the neighboring communities of Deer Park and Melville.

There are many different styles of homes available in Wheatley Heights but due to the relatively small size of the community there are months with few to no home sales.

During the year 2018, only 43 homes sold in Wheatley Heights with the highest sale price of $645,000.  This four bedroom, 3 bath postmodern home was on the market for 41 days.  Of the 43 homes sold in 2018, 16 were hi-ranches, 7 ranches, 1 expanded ranch, 7 were splanches, there were 5 colonials, 2 capes, 1 split level, 1 split ranch , 1 cottage  and 1 contemporary. In December, 2018 the median home sold price for Wheatley Heights was 355,000 a 6.9% increase over the previous year.  In addition to these styles of homes, there is also a co-op on Main Ave.
